This is my 3rd post of this. Someone please take a look and help me out.
While I was making preparations to back up all my files, I logged into Gnome as root and ... everything was fine! All the issues I had logging in as me were gone when I logged in as root. So, as root, I created a new user and then I logged in as that user and everything was still fine. No issues with YaST, saving Quanta Docs or anything. So the question is .. why did this happen? How did my original user name get screwed up?
The second question is... I would like to transfer my ALL of my mail, accounts, and filters to the new user name.
What is the correct procedure for doing this? Also, I have old mail backed up on a CD from an evolution installation on Mandrake 9.1. I would like to import these values into the new user install as well.
I can handle setting up the mail accounts and filters again if I have to, but I would very much like to be able to have all this mail in one spot.
Has anyone done this or is there an online tutorial on how to do this? I looked on Ximian's site but I didn't find anything.
Thanks in advance,

Perhaps the .gnome* directories are messed up. Why not either rename them or remove them and login under your regular login name and see if that fixes your problems. -- Ken Schneider unix user since 1989 linux user since 1994 SuSE user since 1998
