Suse 9.1 - Tomcat Minor Problem

Installing Tomcat as part of the initially selected packages results in 'failed' when 'rctomcat start' is issued. Why? Because Suse 9.1 does not create the required user and group. It is interesting that this does not occur if one installs Tomcat, after completing an initial installation. Another indicator that this distro should have been delayed for a couple of weeks, so that more thorough checking could take place?
