If this is an i/o error why am I able to scan with the same device. I removed the printer and added it again with the same error messages.
It is some kind of permission problem. Wild shots: 1) have a look at the apparmour log (better: stop it temporarily) and 2) try as root. You haven't said what opensuse version you have, nor hplip-hpijs and hplip.

The strange thing here is the displayed job number is not correct when looking at the now printing line, it shows hp3300-0 when it should be hp3300-51.
I think it might be showing two: 0 and 51. Try "lpq -a" to see if there are more jobs pending and remove them all. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
