Looking into the hardware list of Yast I did not find any trace of a CD/DVD ROM. I know I have used the DVD to install 10.3 and I know that everything worked fine as I was burning my first copy of the life CD some week ago. Where did the CD vanished to?
Hi, this is just a wild suggestion but: On my system, if there is no disk inside the dvd burner at boot the system throws a bunch of errors at the time of mounting drive (along the lines of "device failed to identify" "slow to respond" "forcing hardware reset") for a minute of two then just gives up. Then there is no dvd drive available. If however the system is booted with some disk inside it works just fine. So try starting system with a disk in the drive and see if that works?
