Me too. Give the guys a break - they've done wonders for a small firm this size, and much better than many outfits 10 or 100 times bigger. They're supplying a catalogue of software longer than Bill Gates's tax return for the price of a decent night out. If they have a small support staff, and 40 letters on the theme 'pzop3 segfaults, help me', then they're going to send back a standard email as soon as someone's written one. What would you have them do? Take on 20 more people to write individually crafted emails and then send the wages bill to whom? It's cheap and it's excellent. Let's hear a bit more positive stuff, or queries that are aimed at getting specific solutions to specific problems or needs. 'I got up this morning and SuSE hadn't sent flowers to my girlfriend' is getting old. Best Fergus On Wednesday 08 May 2002 06:30, you wrote:
Wow! And I thought I had it hard configuring all those Solaris boxes by hand. YaST1 did this for those who couldn't do it by hand..now there is YaST2. So they left a couple things out..it might be bumpy for a bit. They will fix it. You don't think that SuSE hasn't heard the bitching from us? pfft.. I just can't see leaving a distro as good as SuSE over this. It's just a bunch of whining. 9-10 things that yast1 did can be done with vi and a bit of time ..and one won't have SuSEconfig clean^H^H^H...configuring things behind ones back ;)
Just wait a bit for a fix..YaST2 is modular and I am sure they are busy writing modules to satisfy everyone's gripes. And I know..YaST2 requires 64M of ram...boohoo...sorry but Windows2000/XP don't run on a 32M 486DX266 either. Please lets get into the 21st Century..at least a PII233 or something..what are they $10? sheesh.
