Why can't the install/upgrade occur on reiserfs? Especially if the file system is already there.
It seems to me it ought to be possible, just as we do today with JFS. The filesystem cannot be created by YaST, but if it's already there, it works just fine.
I would imagine that the needed kernel drivers for that file system would not be present. Isn't that ultimately what is changing?
If reiserfs is being dropped from the kernel upstream, that would make sense, but I haven't seen that mentioned. If not, I see no reason why we should stop building the reiserfs module(s) as we do today. There are plenty of file systems for which we offer no explicit support, in yast or elsewhere, all being compiled as modules, for use as and when. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (12.8°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
