Hi,
i found a different at my systems:
/etc/sysconfig/displaymanager
desktop has here DISPLAYMANAGER="sddm" laptop has here DISPLAYMANAGER="kdm"
but still the question, why did both computers show systemsettings/start-end (loginscreen)
"sddm" and the same (sample) screen.
and if somehow it changed in tumbleweed from kdm to sddm, why it has not changed on laptop, and why it look in the systemsettings like it should, telling me it is sddm but did not show like this when booting the desktop?
simoN I do not really understand if your laptop and you PC both run TW. Generally speaking: unless you have specific needs for compatiblity, the kdm loginscreen is deprecated and has been substituted by sddm. By compatiblity if, in a former system, you had kdm, or you did set kdm in yast esplicitly, it may be (also for updates with zypper dup from Leap15 to TW) that you did stay on kdm. The difference you encounter should be given AFAIR to an update or bugfix for

By my experience, chances are good that these things "come and go" because they are subject to changes (branding). from the page: https://ask.fedoraproject.org/en/question/84668/how-to-change-kde-login-back... Changing the login's screen aka SDDM background is almost as easy (Menu -> Computer -> System Settings -> Workspace -> Startup and Shutdown -> Login screen (SDDM) -> Background). Hope that helps. _________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________ Ihre E-Mail-Postfcher sicher & zentral an einem Ort.
