In KDE3, when you clicked on the geeko to open the menu and pressed /, a box would open where you could start typing the app name. As you did that, the menu selection would narrow until you found the app you wanted, so that you could click on it. This is apparently in the Application Laucher style, but not Classic style menu.
Ok.......but isn't this now covered by the Search box at the top of the Kickoff Launcher? I have been spending the day installing and trying out some text editors (to replace kwrite which doesn't print) and I used this Search feature to run each one. The only hassle I found with this - which is probably a minor bug - is that what you type in there is case sensitive where it wasn't before (as far as I can remember): I had to type in KoalaWriter, and not koalawriter, for this editor to be found.
