Everytime I do not use ide=nodma I have this happen: Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver Revision: 6.31 ide: Assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes; override with idebus=xx SIS5513: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 15 SIS5513: chipset revision 208 SIS5513: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later SiS735 ATA 100 controller ide0: BM-DMA at 0xff00-0xff07, BIOS settings: hda:DMA, hdb:DMA ide1: BM-DMA at 0xff08-0xff0f, BIOS settings: hdc:DMA, hdd:DMA PDC20267: IDE controller on PCI bus 00 dev 68 PCI: Found IRQ 5 for device 00:0d.0 PDC20267: chipset revision 2 PDC20267: not 100% native mode: will probe irqs later PDC20267: ROM enabled at 0xcffd0000 PDC20267: (U)DMA Burst Bit ENABLED Primary PCI Mode Secondary PCI Mode. ide2: BM-DMA at 0xc800-0xc807, BIOS settings: hde:pio, hdf:pio ide3: BM-DMA at 0xc808-0xc80f, BIOS settings: hdg:pio, hdh:DMA hda: IBM-DTLA-307030, ATA DISK drive hdc: IC35L020AVER07-0, ATA DISK drive hde: TOSHIBA DVD-ROM SD-M1502, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive hdg: CD-ROM Drive/F5A, ATAPI CD/DVD-ROM drive ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14 ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15 ide2 at 0xd800-0xd807,0xd402 on irq 5 ide3 at 0xd000-0xd007,0xcc02 on irq 5 hda: safely enabled flush hda: 60036480 sectors (30739 MB) w/1916KiB Cache, CHS=3737/255/63 hdc: safely enabled flush hdc: 40188960 sectors (20577 MB) w/1916KiB Cache, CHS=39870/16/63 ide-floppy driver 0.99.newide Partition check: hda: hda1 hda2 hda3 hda4 hdc: It just hangs on that last partition check. I do think that CHS=39870/16/63 could be at fault as it looks kind of strange. Of course I'd love to enable IDE on this box, any ideas on a fix? I am using grub.
