The patch to run VMWare 2.0.4 on the latest kernels can be found here: ftp://platan.vc.cvut.cz/pub/vmware/vmware-ws-any-update16.tar.gz Untar, run the supplied perl script from root, and try running vmware-config.pl again. -jrh
I will soon be installing SuSE 8.0 and am wondering about my VMWare 2.0.4.
What will it take to get it running on SuSE 8.0? I believe that new modules will be needed for the 2.4.18 kernel. One Of SuSE's Support Notes (http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/vmware_modules.html) points to VMWare's web site (http://www.vmware.com/download/modules/modules_ws.html) for the modules but this web site says the modules are good for SuSE 7.2.
There are other patches (vmware-ws) indicated in another of SuSE's Support Notes (http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/fhassel_express_73.html). But these indicate that they are for SuSE 7.1
Has anyone been able to get VMWare Workstation 2.0.4 working on SuSE 8.0?
