Michael, I did have Beta2 installed, including qt1.3.1, but I uninstalled them all before I started on Beta 3. I have noticed, however that the RPMVERSION for the SuSE version of Beta3 is 2.4 .10, and the RPMVERSION for the KDE packages is 2.4.12. Now,you say you are using SuSE 5.1, well, I am using SuSE 5.0 I'm wondering if SuSE 5.1 (and KDE Beta 3) use a more up-to-date version of rpm than I have on my SuSE 5.0 distro?

Hi- I just did a rpm -q on rpm here. It says that I have rpm-2.4.10-5 installed here. The third beta of kde installed on SuSE 5.1 with that rpm level with no problems. I have seen some posts on the usenet newsgroups about problems with installing and use KDE at the third beta level. From my albiet limited experience, Beta 3 seems to have a problem at some times starting its KFM even when I call it from the startkde script in my .xinitrc. I have had some problems with losing the KFM after getting it started also. It seems that functionality just departs leaving me with an inoperational window manager. Anyone else had problems installing or seen these types of issues out there? -- --Michael Perry-- mperry@basin.com -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
