The Shiitake is actually called the Black Mushroom in China, but Shitake in Chinese groceries, and have been cultivated in China for thousands of years, and come as dried mushrooms which you hydrate before use. Lovely mushrooms with very health-wise credentials.
But you already know this, right? :-)
Full disclosure.... I lived in Japan for 6 years and my wife is Chinese. Shiitake is the Japanese name for this particular mushroom. 椎茸. In Chinese it is 香菇 and means "fragrant mushrooms" The first character 香, is the same as the first character in Hong Kong (香港) and as we all know the literal translation of that is "fragrant harbor". -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
