Both apps have unusable menus. Whenever I click on a pull-down, but it the menu, the location bar, the search bar or a form-field "select", I get pixeleated garbage. Its as if some slice of video memory from somewhere is mid in with another slice, neither of which correspond to anything to do with the menu being used, are jumbled there in its stead.
I don't seem to have this problem with the KDE applications like Konqueror/Dolphin, konsole, the KDE games, KOffice.
Just a guess, but do you have "GTK Styles and Fonts" installed & configured?
Yes. And all this was working OK a week ago before the tree was out of sync a few days ago.
As far as getting the apps versions aligned, you could try running YaST Software Management, click the Repo's tab, select the 4.5 respin repo,
The WHAT? "respin" - what's that?
Sorry about that; it's a Fedora term. had thought we also sometimes used it in SuSE land, but I guess not. I was referring to the "upstream release" of 4.5.
and then at the top of the list select "switch system packages to this repository". Unless the tree itself is out of whack (as it was unintentionally last week), that should get you KDE 4.5.2. (along with qt 4.6, and the kontact suite at 4.4.6).
If I do that for the KDE45Release I get a massive downgrade as it switches from the SUSE to the OBS.
How can it be a downgrade, unless you were using Factory?
I mentioned this earlier in the thread.
I missed where you tried using YaST and "switch system packages" with the 4.5 upstream repo. You can get different results than with zypper. I find that YaST sometimes provides better granularity and visibility for resolving dependencies and versions. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
