I understand it allows access to clients :-?
So do I. But the clients must be "cryptographically authenticated". You have to create an identicat entry in the "ntp.keys" file on time server and its clients. Plus, you have to configure the clients to use this key when querying the server. According to ntpd's manpage, this is done by using the "key" option on the "server" line, like server AmonLanc.valino iburst key 5 when the key got the number 5 in your "ntp.keys" file.
