cd/dvd file reading in 9.3

Just installed 9.3-x86-64 to play with, 9.2 is still the main workhorse. A big 9.3 surprise is that when i try to mount a windoze based cd, say the drivers disk for my non working (in linux) UMAX scanner, there seems to be a lot of renaming and file moving/hiding!!!! The cd has about 4-5 "setup.exe" files, in 9.2 they are properly read, in 9.3 they are called "Installer", and of course they can not be opened by wine. most of the same files were properly read, executed and installed in wine under 9.2, in 9.3 that seems impossible. The 9.3 fstab file is identical to the 9.2. Where can i look to get just the actual file listing from the cd instead of the gates-like arbitrary 'linucsized" translation?
