hello all:
I am wondering how I can change my video card from the existing Ati Rage 128 to an NVidia GeForce2 MX200. I am a newbie using SuSE linux 7.2. What I'm afraid of is that when I install the card the X-Window system will not respond and I will have to reinstall everything. What is the easiest way to swap video cards? can anybody point me in the right direction (a howto on upgrading video cards?) do i have to move to init 3? and then start SAX2? do I install the nvidia drivers first using YAST2 then do I move to init 3 and install the video card? I'm a bit confused. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. I just need to be pointed in the right direction (In other words, I will RTFM if I am pointed to it). Thank you very much for your help guys and gals
Just run 'sax' (xfree3) or 'sax2" (xfree4) from command line to configure your video card. Don't in run it in X-Window. If you're in X-Windows, first press CTRL-ALT-F1 to switch to a command line- Login as root , and start sax/sax2. Best regards, Bart
