Having recently acquired a copy of SuSE 8.1 to replace the copy of Debian I put over 8.0, then couldn't get to work, I'm eager to get this puppy up and running to its full potential. (Please bear with any stupid mistakes I make along the way. I'm an ex-Windows user.) To that end, I have a couple of questions I'd like to ask. Any help you can offer with any of them would be appreciated... First off, a simple one: what's the best way for me to set KMail to always show my mail in a fixed font? I can turn the option on under the View menu, but it doesn't seem to 'stick'-- and while I could override the default fonts under Settings, that doesn't seem particularly elegant. What am I missing? Next, a question about my dialup connection. I have poor line quality in my area, and I sometimes get disconnected without warning. When I do, programs that were using the Internet don't seem to notice, either that the connection's gone down or that it comes back up when I restart it. They just sit there, waiting for input that'll never come. (If I manually tell them to reconnect, they figure it out.) Is there some configuration change I can make so that, when I lose my modem connection, my programs get the 'connection lost' poke? Finally, a bug report that I'm hoping you can help me with. I installed Kmud through YaST2, and it seems to have installed okay, but when I try to start it, I get an error box proclaiming: Could not find a Kpart for mapping. Details: KTrader was not able to find a Kpart for the servicetype Kmud/MapperPart. Kmud installation should have installed a file called kmudmapper.desktop into the 'services' directory of KDE. If this file exists try running kbuildsycoca from a console to ensure KDE recognizes the new service. When I click 'OK', I then get the error 'The application Kmud (kmud) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV).' Should I go ahead and try 'kbuildsycoca', whatever that is, or is there something else wrong with the program? Thanks in advance!
