I found that it was the X server binary from SuSE that was crashing when executing some programs. I replaced it for the binary from the XF86Free ftp site. Can you try this and see if it solves your problem? For example if you use the SuSE 5.3 S3 X server, replace it with: <A HREF="ftp://ftp.rge.com/pub/X/XFree86/3.3.3.1/binaries/Linux-ix86-libc5/Servers/XS3.tgz</A">ftp://ftp.rge.com/pub/X/XFree86/3.3.3.1/binaries/Linux-ix86-libc5/Servers/XS3.tgz</A> -- Rafael Herrera Laboratory for Computational Neuroscience University of Pittsburgh <A HREF="http://www.neuronet.pitt.edu/~raffo</A">http://www.neuronet.pitt.edu/~raffo</A> - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A>
