Is it possible for an FTP client to create and change a soft link in the remote directory? i.e. create a link called LATEST_VERSION pointing to a particular file?
The server is vsftpd.
Not with vsftpd. ON other servers you could use: site ln -s filename.latest LATEST_VERSION But since the site command is the biggest security hole in ftp servers, vsftpd implements only two SITE commands CHMOD and UMASK and does it internally.
