-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I usually instyall both, the source and the default rpm. Make sure gcc is installed (under series d). Then go to /usr/src/linux and do a 'make cloneconfig'followed by 'make dep clean modules modules_install' you may get abi failing, do make menuconfig or make xconfig and remove binary emulation of other systems, unless you really need it (probably not, never has compiled on my machine). Finally, after 'make dep clean modules modules_install' has finished do a 'make install' then mk_initrd and then lilo. If it does fail to boot you can boot the installed system via the CD (there is an option, boot installed system, you have to enter which HD partition to boot from, eg /dev/hda1).
