Hi
I've installed the new 8.8.25 ATI drivers via the SuSE rpms and compiled them according to the readme. I've done the sax2 stuff and everything seems to work OK bar one thing: if I run fglrxinfo I'm told that mesa is still in charge of glx, and if I start either fglrx gears or America's Army both refuse to work (in the case of America's Army, it simply says that glx won't load properly).
Did you reboot the machine after you finished the compile? I found I needed to do that. You might also look in lib/modules/kernel/driver and make sure it got installed. For whatever reason, I had to manually copy the .ko file over to the directory, and re-run depmod to get it working.
