I'd really like to use the OSS product. Is this something you are aware of ?
I'm not sure what the problem is....we have not heard about this through our tech support channels. So cutting out problem is something not related to OSS. It's possible that this gentleman's using the older version of the drivers that did have the problems...but it's been fixed. We haven't had one complaint since 3.9 version of OSS!.

Following the excellent advice I've received right here at 'suse-linux-e@suse.com':
I've re-compiled my kernel for sound, and using 'isapnp', I've got my Creative Labs SoundBlaster AWE32 PnP soundcard working without using the OSS driver. (this works for the newer AWE64's also, per testimonies)
The benefits are:
1) better sound 2) RealAudio 5.0 works flawlessly
The OSS driver is flawed as far as RealAudio 5.0 is concerned. For all of the posters who have been suffering from the "it cuts out after only about one second" RealAudio 5.0 syndrome, this is the answer!
Thanks to all who have helped me in these matters!!!!

The 'RealAudio problem' happens with which ever version of OSS comes standard on the SuSE 5.2 Linux CD's. Many at 'suse-linux-e@suse.com' have been complaining of this problem since SuSE 5.2 was released. ----------------------------------------------- Man's mind is his basic tool of survival!
