upgrade. I would like to ask (rhetorically) why one needs the upgrade to 7.0 Is there something that is so critical within your use of the distro that you must update it now? If so, why are you waiting on SuSE, go update that
yourself. The compiler isn't THAT scary. Are there enough changes all over
package the
distro to justify a major system overhaul to get to the new version? I doubt
I'm planning to get SuSE 7.0 to install on my Windows for a dual boot configuration. This isn't a production machine per se, I just want the latest and greatest to evaluate the Linux desktop on a high-end machine (P3-550, 256MB, Geforce 256, DVD and USB). It would be easier with the new distro rather than trying bring SuSE 6.3 up to date. (Yes, I tried and I didn't like the results.) My production machines, a file server and router box, will remain with SuSE 6.3 since future upgrade requirements are minimal and the installations are quite stable.
