For these I happily remember using FrameMaker on HP-UX long before Windows had anything close. I remember this because we looked for a Windows 3.1 (which it was at the time) app doing the same thing, with no success. The closest came a few years later: Venture Publishing from Digital Research. MS' offerings were later than that. So MS were not even first on their own OS platform.
