[opensuse] xsane missing save as tiff

Hello list mates. I just noticed that xsane on my OSS 11.1 machine does not give me the option to save as TIFF. I checked for libtiff and saw that I have libtiff3 installed and configured. Is there something beyond that that is needed to be able to save scanned images in TIFF format when using xsane?
