Hia SuSE! I finally said good bye to OSS!! As OSS used to lock my system up when trying to play au's, mp3s, waves and midi... so good riddence! I dug deep into the HOWTO's for my soundblaster which is a SB-64Gold Awe And I got it working well enough for it to play au's and mp3s and audio cds so far ;) I am way happy..but unable to load soundbanks cause of two missing things.. But, I have two things which are missing from a cat /dev/sndstat: here is mine right now: warhammer:/home/hettar # cat /dev/sndstat Sound Driver:3.5.4-960630 (Mon Jun 15 04:31:50 PDT 1998 root, Linux warhammer 2.0.33 #1 Mon Jun 15 03:06:17 PDT 1998 i586 unknown) Kernel: Linux warhammer 2.0.33 #2 Mon Jun 15 04:32:41 PDT 1998 i586 Config options: 0 Installed drivers: Type 1: OPL-2/OPL-3 FM Type 2: Sound Blaster Type 7: SB MPU-401 Card config: Sound Blaster at 0x220 irq 5 drq 1,5 SB MPU-401 at 0x330 irq 5 drq 0 OPL-2/OPL-3 FM at 0x388 drq 0 Audio devices: 0: Sound Blaster 16 (4.16) Synth devices: 0: Yamaha OPL-3 <-missing 1:AWE32-0.4.2c (RAM512) Midi devices: 0: Sound Blaster 16 Timers: 0: System clock Mixers: 0: Sound Blaster <-missing 1:AWE32 Equalizer Now I have compiled the kernel with Additional low level drivers with AWE synth picked.. (I even upgraded suse's awedrv) once without upgrading and I have 1-1v of isapnptools which I edited the isapnp.conf (had problems here) ..I think this is where my problem is..but I'd like to know if anyone can help me here.. It seams I had to put in (VERIFYLD N) and it had a problem with one of the last IO neer the end under -->waveTable<-- which was ((IO 2 (BASE 0x0e20)) which I ended up leaveing out.. I am wondering how I can figure out what I can do about it.. please help Steve Udell hettar@teleport.com -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
