Listmates,

The symptoms and broken apps in gnome are:
- volume control crashes - gnome settings daemon crashes - all theme elements (font-size, colors, background, etc..) That is one helluva deal when you can't even change the background) - compiz - blackscreens. You can spin the cube, but the cube faces are black (probably related to not being able to set the background)
I need help figuring out what in kde44 is causing this problems. I know the gnome settings daemon crash is related to a lot of it, but why should that kill volume control?
What is it that is new with kde44 that would be killing the gnome setting daemon in 11.0?
Removing Bespin decorations in kde4 seems to have solved the kate/kwrite crashes (maybe temorary), and being decoration related, I had hope it would help fix the gnome issue as well, but, no joy :( I beginning to think that it might be dbus related. One of the more daunting errors received during start of gnome is: "Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" I don't know what bus this message relates to but I guess it's dbus.
