I'm getting a very regular General Protection error, on the following system ( set up to be a mail and www server runing X ). I've reformated and reinstalled twice, with more limited package selection each time. No difference was noted. MotherBoard : ABIT LX6 CPU : Pentium II 233Mhz Memory : 64 Meg SDRAM Hard Drive : ATAPI IDE Mitsumi 4gig CD-ROM : Mitsumi 24x EIDE ( set as slave ) Video Card : Matrox Millenium (MGA) Network Card : SMC8432T EtherPower PCI Mouse : PS/2 Keyboard : Standard 101 key OS : SUSE LINUX 5.1 December 1997 installed from CD-ROM There are no other devices. I do have the i/o devices ( Keyboard, Monitor, Mouse ) connected to a Belkin omniview 4 port electronic switch. After every few hours, the system gets semi locked. It responds to <alt><Function key> commands, but not to <cntrl><alt><del>. <enter> at any screen, except login prompt gives the following. # general protection error: 0000 cpu : 0 eip : 0010:[<00124c207>] eflags : 00010216 eax: 724f2f6c ebx: 00000302 ecx: 0346cd90 edx: 0000020a esi: 00000302 edi: 00000108 ebp: 00000400 esp: 00851e14 ds: 0018 es: 0018 fs: 002b gs: 002b ss: 0018 Process bash ( pid: 5668, processnr :38 stackpage:08150000 Stack: 0000032b 03F1030 00000400 0000023B 00000237 0000013A 0012545E 00000301 0000023b 000004000 0000023b 03F1CC38 001d86fc 0000023b 0000001 0015BE8 00000301 0000023B 000004000 0000000000000007 03C08000 00000 23B 00000400 CALL TRACE : [<0012545E7>] [<0014BEA87>] [<0015CWFB7>] [<001115CBC8>] [< MORE SIMILAR LINES>] CODE : 39 38 75 84 66 39 58 04 75 1E 39 68 20 74 22 56 E8 77 F9 FF #################################### Laszlo -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
