Anybody in the know, if those broken dependency will be resolved in the future, and a java-1_4_2-sun-src package will be released?
I've no idea. Personally I always download tomcat from apache web site and java from sun's web site: the all stuff is pretty easy to set-up and this way I never had a problem.
The whole point of paying SUSE the money for a distribution is to avoid spending my (valuable) time doing installations myself. That an official SUSE update introduces an inconsistency in package management is simply a bug and should be fixed, independent of the ability to install software from upstream myself. How is the experience of other list subscribers with opening a bug report for such an issue? Any chance that there will be a reaction on it, i.e., a fix? If yes, I'd do it. If no, I don't want to spend that time either. Happy new year, Joachim -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Joachim Schrod Email: jschrod@acm.org Roedermark, Germany
