Tell ya the truth I have no clue what was causing it. Weird messages like "AGP unavailable" isn't much help either.
Being a complete Linux newbie, I'm not sure if this is fundamental to your problems, but per AMD a bug relating to Athlons & Durons & AGP existed in kernels prior to 2.4.19. Supposed a "bug-fix that effectively eliminates this problem" was placed in 2.4.19. To me, that means they didn't correct the issue, just worked around it. Check out http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_tech_docs/2669... I'm running a stock 8.0 with 2.4.18, with a 1.2 GHz Duron & ATI Radeon 7000 AGP with no problems. I've been considering trying the Athlon kernel, but now I'm not so sure. Maybe I'll wait till 2.4.20. -- Mike If you can stay calm, while all around you is in chaos...then you probably haven't completely understood the seriousness of the situation.
