[sorry for the late answer]
There is nothing like a "late answer" ;-) Thanks.
* Peter Maffter (petermaffter@yahoo.de) [20120521 02:35]:
libglib-2.0.so.0 => /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0 (0xf759a000)
Please do objdump -T /usr/lib/libglib-2.0.so.0|fgrep g_mutex_trylock
If this returns nothing you copy of glib is incomplete.
It returns nothing. How can a *.rpm be "incomplete"? Aren't there checks for that? Checksums? I used the corresponding rpm from the download DVD of 12.1! I downloaded libglib-2_0-0-2.30.1-2.1.2.x86_64.rpm libglib-2_0-0-32bit-2.30.1-2.1.2.x86_64.rpm from one of the opensuse mirrors now. md5sums: 92efdb5fedbb24e575ae1c88454e9747 libglib-2_0-0-2.30.1-2.1.2.x86_64.rpm 2e3b6e7632d60ee2ec275b3c43989776 libglib-2_0-0-32bit-2.30.1-2.1.2.x86_64.rpm I installed/updated them both but now I get "/usr/bin/acroread: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/libpangoft2-1.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_mutex_trylock" when running acroread 9.5.1 . objdump -T /usr/lib/libpangoft2-1.0.so.0 |fgrep g_mutex_trylock 00000000 DF *UND* 00000000 g_mutex_trylock There is libpango-1_0-0-32bit-1.30.0-1.3.x86 and libpango-1_0-0-1.29.4-2.1.3.x86_64.rpm from the 12.1 DVD but no udpate libpango-1_0-0-1.30.4-2.1.3.x86_64.rpm ?

Be aware that it is quite difficult to do that in some webmailers. I just found some option for this but other may not find such options in other webmailers.
