If you have used these programming tools priorly, and plan to use these scripts just for personal use, then use them. There will be incremental improvements in the software but nothing you should be worried about. If you use DVD, MAKE SURE THAT YOUR IMAGES ARE BIT-FOR-BIT SAME. Dvds are notorious for bit errors. Have you thought about DVD-RAM for backup instead? Ever noticed nobody has made a DVD Burner/Changer for just the purpose you state? Hmm. Date: Sat Aug 13, 2005 2:44 pm Size: 931 bytes To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Hi: I notice that here: http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/ and here: http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/tools/?M=D That the dvd+rw-tools package hasn't changed since Aug 2004, with version 5.21.4 I have Suse 9.1 with dvd+rw-tools-5.17.4.8.6-17 installed. I'm about to spend some time writing scripts to perform DVD+R backups using these tools. I am wondering if the more recent Suse versions are still using these tools, or if "the Linux world" has changed to some other DVD burning software that I should know about before spending this effort. Thanks for input. Good day! -- _____________________ Christopher R.
