OK but why doesn't installing Firefox install the codecs, or when Firefox installs the Cisco H.264 plugin?
Apart from what Billie said, how would Firefox know that you wanted that codec? Perhaps you prefer Flash? (Or equally, I would be extremely upset if Firefox automatically installed a Flash player on my machine!)
Normally when you install software, it installs any libraries etc that it is likely to require. Mplayer for example has installed video decoders, but it may be that I only ever use it for audio. So my reasoning was that it should install anything that it is ever likely to require. Of course I could be wrong.
I don't think you've told us what error message you saw?
The error message was something like "this content does not seem to be working, please try later". It does not give any indication of the problem. Trying later only worked because later I installed mplayer. :) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
