OK. It doesn't load. Can you try manually to load driver: modprobe ipw3945
If it is possible you can try to run YaST yast2 lan&

Huh! Well, there's a thing. The modprobe ipw3945 worked a treat. All I have to do now, is try to make sure it stays there on reboot, but frankly, if I have to type that every time I start up, at least I'll be able to use it on my upcoming trip (starting tomorrow).
