Of course, openSUSE/SUSE operates an NNTP server interconnected with the openSUSE forums. And sees a lot of service, it is a very fast and practical communication channel.
But, seriously, the answer is no. I didn't realize your lament had to do with nntp, I thought you were only concerned about mail.
