I am just wondering how you have the Panel Alignment setup: Left, Centre, or Right. Right-click on taskbar>Panel Settings>More Settings.
Left Aligned... which is.. I think.. the default. i dont' remember changing it... but my memory is a bit dodgy at the best of times.
I think that it should be Centre aligned - at least this is what I have.
Also when you right-click on the taskbar you get a second panel with Screen Edge and Height adjustments; under this second panel you have movable pointers. Fiddling with these can get you into trouble as I discovered :-) . Nevertheless, I wonder if these pointers, being moved perhaps by accident, have anything to do with your problem.
Grey one on the far left, and blue and green on the far right.
No colours here - except that the arrows are black. I tried to find a way of taking a snapshot of the screen showing the position of the alignment marks but the Screen Edge tool kicks in and one cannot activate Ksnapshot :-( . I have an arrow in the middle (pointing down) just under Height, and then left and right pointing arrows at either end (of the screen) with a "button" immediately under each one.
Ummm I did fiddle with them at some point... a long time ago. Not recently though.
