hi brandon,
from what i can see it means that your mail host is the same as your dns. what did you use to set the mx for the host ?? here is an exerpt of my dns config file :
; ; Zone file for big7.net ; ; The full zone file ; $TTL 3H @ IN SOA ns1.big7.net. hostmaster.big7.net. ( 2001082800 ; serial, todays date + todays serial # 3H ; refresh, seconds 1H ; retry, seconds 1W ; expire, seconds 1H ) ; minimum, seconds ; @ IN NS ns1 ; Inet Address of name server MX 10 mail.big7.net. ; Primary Mail Exchanger ;
localhost A 127.0.0.1
mail A 62.138.165.4 MX 10 mail HINFO "Pentium" "Linux 2.2/qmail" TXT "The big7.net Mail-Server"
the mail server here has an own name (mail.big7.net) instead of a PoinTeR to it, like :
; ; Zone file for one of the pool domains. ; ; The full zone file ; $TTL 2D @ IN SOA ns1.big7.net. hostmaster.big7.net. ( 2001082600 ; serial, todays date + todays serial # 1D ; refresh, seconds 2H ; retry, seconds 1W ; expire, seconds 2D ) ; minimum, seconds ; @ IN NS ns1.big7.net. ; Inet Address of name server MX 10 mail.big7.net. ; Primary Mail Exchanger ;
mail PTR mail.big7.net. HINFO "Pentium" "Linux 2.2/qmail" TXT "mail exchange"
i would suggest to give the mail server an extra name (dont use ns1.xxxxx as your mail servers name) and give the mx record that name.
hope that helps, if not, feel free to contact me .....
greets and have fun,
chris
