I have installed this one from Packman. It wanted to remove cdrtools, and instead install the compatibility package, which I did not allow.
I told it to load a video. It has been doing so for the last hour, using 100% of one core. It just displays a big window, totally black, with a "waiting" mouse pointer. The video I told it to load is big, about 12GB, but this doesn't look normal. Processing a video is slow, but the initial load without displaying anything :-?
Is this normal?
Perhaps only when you prevent it from installing the tools it needs?
No. Those tools are needed only to write CD/DVD media, they are deprecated, should not be used, and conflict with the installed tools. Normal application lets you choose which set to use (cdrtools (Joerg Schilling) or wodim. In fact, what it wants to install is "cdrkit-cdrtools-compat", which is a layer that allows applications to use wodim with cdrtools calls. It is a bug to request those tools in a hard requirement, IMO. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 13.1 x86_64 "Bottle" at Telcontar)
