You have to be root to changes the system wide menu.
YaST says that the drivers are installed successfully. Then when I try to enable 3d acceleration I get the same error message. Has anyone had this same problem? If so, have you corrected it?
Ignore YaST/sax2 there. The 3D acceleration only works with the normal X11 drivers. If the Nvidia driver is installed you should have 3D acceleration, no matter what YaST/sax2 tell you.

Hi .. Right then i have to admit the 9.2 install is an absolute DOG of the highest order it has to be the worst i have come across in all my years of using suse (from very early) Now the Gnome thing i aint got the faintest idead i hate the stuff i must admit KDE rules . Nvidia now theres fun for you .. what i had to do was locate and remove all instances of nvidia.o and nvidia.ko if you look in ¨/lib/modules/ ¨ you will see an dir ¨2.6.8-24.3-precompiled¨ either mv it to another location/name or rm it i mv´ed it out the way then as i said above deal with the rest of the nvidia.o stuff next either reboot into init3 or do Ctrl+Alt+F1 login as root do ¨init 3¨ you should have downloaded an files from the nvidia site called NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-6629-pkg1.run you will also find some instructions on the nvidia site as to how to go about installing the drives you need to print them off and follow them EXACTLY you also need the COMPLETE KERNEL SOURCES installed not just the binary bits that are used to run the system but the sources as well (you can install them via an YOU UPDATE ) or if you are not shure if they have been installed just edit ¨/etc/X11/xorg.conf¨ as below ..or similar to Section "Device" BoardName "GeForce FX5200" BusID "1:0:0" Driver "nvidia" Identifier "Device[0]" Option "sw_cursor" Option "IgnoreDisplayDevices" "TV" Option "NvAGP" "3" Screen 0 VendorName "NVidia" EndSection the important bit to start with is the Driver ¨nvidia¨ bit you may well find on your machine it is set to Driver ¨nv¨ if so just edit save and init 5 if it works ok Nvidia driver is installed if not then i will just dumop you back at the command promt you have just left so just do init 3 again and go back to the installing nvidia bit above and continue from there .. hope this helps i have recently installed 9.2 and had horrendous problems getting things to work correctly so much so i almost sent 9.2 back and demanded my money back , I have to say i think the install system is very very pre alpha in it´s abilities Pete . -- Linux user No: 256242 Machine No: 139931 G6NJR Pete also MSA registered "Quinton 11" A Linux Only area Happy bug hunting M$ clan, The time is here to FORGET that M$ Corp ever existed the world does not NEED M$ Corp the world has NO USE for M$ Corp it is time to END M$ Corp , Play time is over folks time for action approaches at an alarming pace the death knell for M$ Copr has been sounded .
