GTK/GNOME2 develpment on SuSE 8.0

Hi! I've found several posts regarding upgrading SuSE to 8.0, but in all of them the problem is the same: pango requires filesystem package. I tried to install filesystem.rpm, but it requires setup? Not wanting to create mess out of my present installation, I'm asking for an advice what to do to prepare system for GTK/GNOME2 development. I don't need GNOME2 desktop since I run kde 3.1.
