Sax2 freezes system

I got an ftp install ro work and tried 9.3. The system boot stable but when ever I try to configure the graphics sax2 locks the system forcing a power button hit. I had this same problem with 9.1 and 2 so I have always stayed with 9.0. The only difference is xfree in 9.0 and as of 9.1 its xorg. I figured this time try and beat the problem. The sax log is not showing any errors and the xorg log is using vesa drivers and one screen mode 800x600. I have booted and switched to runlevel 3 with the same results. Graphics cards are nvidia mx440 pci and intel 810 (disabled in bios). Can I install xfree86 from 9.0 in 9.3? or is there a sulution that I did not see via googling?
