True type fonts

Ok all this talk about true type fonts and I want them. I'm looking for the difinitave answer. . .what is the best way to get them in KDE and Netscape. Do I need xfstt or is there a better solution?? If so where do I get it or what do I do? I've been looking since I read all this but I can't find it.
