openSuse 15 will no longer support ReiserFS.
That is very bad news to me. Does it mean it will be removed from the kernel upstream?
A shy questions for information: - Does this mean that soon I cannot read my external backup disks anymore? - When will that be?
openSUSE 15, he says. The next Leap release. You could read your backups using a virtual machine of an older release.
I have many external disks, some safety-backups even in another country, all with encrypted reiser-fs... Well, it would be one more reason to copy them to newer drives, something I should do anyway sometimes, probably, but it's a lot of non-productive work even involving journeys and I am moving it to the future as much as I can...
I also have some backups, but these are mostly XFS. But I have several partitions in actual use that are reiserfs. Of course they can be migrated, but performance would suffer. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.2 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)
