Carsten, thank you much that appears to have fixed things (once the backed up email messages flooded through).
Now - why did everything seem fine for so long I wonder. The log growth really accelerated the last weeek.
I do not remember changing any permissions - but its possible I guess. We use LDAP for user management (just a few email users on two domains), but I don't thing anything untoward has happened there.
Maybe you changed something in the system users menu. I've currently no other idea, sorry.
Sorry to reactivate, but its happening again after about 36 hours. But the error messages are a bit different in /var/log/mail. Its not saying permissions are wrong, its saying the socket/file is completely missing.

Any ideas? I've been in to YAST and checked things it looks fine. Here's a screen capture if you can read it.

It appears your Postfix wants to use IMAP (probably cyrus) for local delivery. R u running postfix in a chroot jail? I've hit this problem when I tried to chroot jail my postfix installation, so now, I don't. If you manage to get chrooted postfix to work with cyrus imap, please let me know Regards, Syl
