Hi Peter, I even reboot the machine but no change. Is it any setting other than /etc/security/limit.conf? Wong ----- Original Message ----- From: <auxsvr@gmail.com> To: <opensuse@opensuse.org> Sent: Sunday, March 14, 2010 18:45 Subject: Re: [opensuse] Incrase softlimit

Dear All,
Need advise how to incrase the softlimit -n.
Here is my current value;

I want to increase it to 8192.
Change the file "/etc/security/limit.conf" seems not help
* soft nofile 8192
You need to login again for the setting to take effect.
Thx & Rgds,
Wong
