Well, i know nothing about MySql, but i'll be nowadays.. There's a MySql application here in the bank i work for, and i'm supposed to take the support for this app over. I know nothing about this app for now, except for it's being on an nt server.
Meanwhile, i'll install and begin to learn MySql at home on suse 7.1.
Are there differences between MySql on nt & MySql on linux? Maybe we can transfer the app to a linux machine. Will it do better? Just to get prepared for the taking over process, may i get your suggestions?
One important difference is that the name of databases and tables is case sensitive on Linux and case INsensitive on NT. This is because of differences in the underlying filesystem. MySQL stores tables as files with the tablename + an extension in a directory with the name of the database. Regards Ole
