Hi Ben (and other helpful respondents), Thanks for the advice. I now have the two machines talking to each other and I am able to control the firewall from the "main" pc....but I cannot access the web. Is there an additional command that I need to enter in the bootloader to permit this? I have looked at the help manuals for the browser Konqueror, but cannot identify any further configuration issues. Thanking you for your assistance and patience with a n00b! Can anyone help with this please as after 6 months of struggling I am at a loss and have scoured many forums but to no avail!!
Try booting into safemode, if you obtain an IP, then you just need to add the option acpi=off to the grub menu. Regards, Ben
