Good evening, I've been running 9.1 for about 6 months now, after learning Linux on Fedora Core. I'm far from what anyone in their right mind would call accomplished, however. I normally check for, and apply, security updates on a daily basis. I've noticed over the past month or so that just the process of checking for updates via YOU has grown to about 10 minutes time. Today I logged nearly 3MB of data transfer just for the check. I ended up only needing about 80K of actually program updates. What actually takes place here? What is being downloaded? I have YOU set to delete updates from disk after they've been applied. Are there cache files that need cleaning? Is there an index that needs rebuilding? Are there better, finer grained solutions than YOU? Thanks in advance, John -- Thanks to spin, we can incarcerate our citizens at the rate of 1200 per week...and still live in the land of the free.
