Look for OnTrack Data Recovery. It's a freebie that can recover data fro m almost dead harddrives. You will have to boot with a dos boot disk to us e it but it can save your day. Google for OnTrack.

The version there is a trial version only. I would love to have a LINUX program doing just that. Is there any? I found out that there are 3 physically damaged sectors. Now I have successfully tried out dd_rescue, and I can even mount the image. But almost all directories are missing now (due to the errors), so how can I get my files back?
