I am having great difficulty establishing a connection using ISDN; using isdnctrl I can dial the correct number, etc. but it seems no authentication is taking place (ISP says PAP is the correct setting). I have checked all of the files in /etc/ppp and /etc/isdn and can't see anything incorrect. Has anybody had a similar experience and if so what solved the problem?
Here is the output of part of the /var/log/messages file before ipppd hangs up :

Well, whatever your ISP says, it look very much like they want to use chap here. How about switching to chap and seeing if that works?
